Visita Iglesia, which translates literally to “church visit” in Spanish, means to explore churches with prayer, meditation and full acknowledgement of Jesus’ sufferings. It is a Holy Week tradition of Roman origin, which is practiced by a number of Filipino Christians by visiting at least seven churches usually starting Maundy Thursday.

Timeframe of the pilgrimage

4:00 a.m. convergence Shell Ortigas station

4:30 a.m. start of the pilgrimage.

·Bus stationed at the site with the pilgrimage guide.

Orientation and reading of the Gospel of St. Luke on the Good Samaritan.

Recitation and meditation on the mysteries of the Holy Rosary.

·8:00 a.m. at the Church of San Bartolome in Nagcarlan, Laguna.

 

Sharing on the short history of the town and the church, personal and collective prayers.

Prayer for the souls of the defenders of freedom inside the underground cemetery.

·8:45 a.m. at the Chruch of San Juan Bautista in Liliw, Laguna. Discussion on the short history of the town and the church, personal and collective prayers.

·Snacks in the convento or the churchyard.

9:45 a.m. at the Church of San Gregorio in Majayjay, Laguna. Presentation of the short history of the church and the town, personal and collective prayers.
10:45 a.m. at the Church of Sta. Magdalena in Magdalena, Laguna.

 

Sharing on the history of the twn and the church, personal and collective prayers.

Lunch at one of the oldest houses in the town.

Listening to the pabasa of the passion and viewing of some old santos brought out during the Semana Santa procession.

1:30 p.m. at the Church of Santiago Apostol in Paete, Laguna. ·Presentation of the history of the church and the town, personal and collective prayers.
·2:30 p.m. at the Church of San Pedro de Alcantara in Pakil, Laguna. Sharing on the history of the church and the town, personal and collective prayers.

Visitation of the Chapel of La Virgen de Turumba and prayer for suffering women of Laguna.

 3:30 p.m. at the Church of San Pedro and San Pablo in Siniloan, laguna. Discussion on the short history of the town and the church, personal and collective prayers.

Snacks at the churchyard of convento.

4:30 p.m. at the Church of Mahal na Ina ng Candelaria. Sharing on the history of the town and the church, personal and collective prayers.

Celebration of the Holy Eucharist and reflection on Passion for Christ, Passion for Humanity.

Dinner at the churchyard or an old house.

6:30 p.m. bound for Metromanila via Rizal. Individual reflection and assessment of the recollection and pilgrimage.
